I had two trips planned for KL7 cancelled due to Covid. This third time was a charm
I was part of a multi-op ARRL DX Contest CW effort. The famous contest station now owned by Steve, KL7SB, was my destination. Here is a peak at the inside.
Train adventure to Fairbanks

All aboard.

This way to the trains.

Getting my bearings.

Let’s go . . .

Inside

These guys want to go too.

“Aiin’t no mountain high enough.” Oh, wait, this one is.

“Ain’t no valley low enough” His x-wife will never find him.
Arctic Circle

Here’s the morning view from my Fairbanks hotel. All refreshed and ready for today’s adventure.

What would you do for a Klondike?

We saw the Alaskan Pipeline this morning.

We hit a guardrail with our van. Screwed up the front wheel. Not going to make it to the Arctic Circle today.
Northern Lights

Map of tower locations and the beverages.

Got switches.

My Green Heron friend Jeff is here.

When I was told to just go to my corner and operate . . . here is where I went.

Alaskan Pipeline Gentry

Alaskian Middle Finger Farnsworth.
Being Alaska is a U.S. State and my license is from the United States, there was no special licensing require for me to operate in Alaska.

WJ2O/KL7 on 10 meters. Handled my first pileup since before covid. It’s good to know you don’t lose the art.

When the rates are low in the middle of the night, it’s nice to hear from the great DIPOLIO.

The contest is over

From Nashville to Nikiski with a side trip to Fairbanks

Departing Nashville for Seattle.

From Anchorage to Fairbanks, by train.

Getting back to Anchorage from Fairbanks, by air this time.

My next adventure. A puddle jump to Kenai via Ravn Airlines where I meet up with my old ravin crazy friend Steve Bloom, KL7SB. He’s the owner of the famous contest station KL7RA.

My friend at Niskisi Airport wanting to say good-bye.

Back to Anchorage from Nikiski.
